Check out the Commissioner's thoughts on the latest HSFL happenings

As we have concluded our seventh HSFL season, I have decided to chime in here after a few months of letting things settle down.  As you may or may not know, we had an unfortunate incident at the end of the season that involved one of our players taking a trip to the hospital after suffering a concussion.  At that time, there was a great deal of debate over whether or not we should continue playing after the incident.  We ultimately decided to play one more game and finish the year on a good note, before re-evaluating our situation at the end of the year.

Jeff and I have talked it over a few times, and based on the waning support we have been receiving from other players, and the physical implications of continuing to play, we have essentially decided not to come back for another full season.  While we have not closed the door on the possibility of playing a few games next year, we will not attempt to play the traditional 6-8 game schedule that we have the past three years.

It is also my pleasure to announce that in February, Greg Glover and a few of his peers played sort of a trial game at the Glover Bowl.  Greg has announced plans to attempt to begin his era of control of the HSFL this season.  I certainly wish Greg the kind of success and longevity that we have managed over the past seven years... Good luck getting it off the ground Greg.

Finally, it is my pleasure to announce that the HSFL slow-pitch softball team will be returning for our third season.  Unfortunately, we have been promoted to Division 1, despite a barely .500 showing last year.  There was a problem with the new league president where he wanted to give teams that played in both the Summer and Fall sessions priority, so Division 2 filled up before we were granted a spot.  More details will be available on a season preview coming out in a few days.

Until next time...

Good Day, Commissioner Glover
