Hobart, IN:  The HSFL played the final game of its sixth season on Sunday.  The game time temperature was below 30 degrees, the coldest in league history, leaving the ground frozen solid, and everyone involved freezing cold.  With Team 2 leading the season series 4-3, Team 1 needed a win to even up the season series and force a share of the championship.

As the game started off both teams traded shots early.  Each team had new offensive weapons in Tom Phelps and John Allendorf, but neither team could pull away from the other in the early going.  Josh Coons dominated with 3 first half touchdowns to give Team 1 a 5-4 lead going into the half.

The second half started off much the same way as the first half ended, and Team 1 managed to jump out to an incredible 8-5 lead.  Confidence was riding high, but after a controversial play on which the officials took a touchdown away from Tom Phelps, he left the playing field and was used for only a hand full of plays afterwards.  The departure of Phelps left Team 1's offense a little short handed, and Team 2 managed to creep their way back into the game.  Team 1 could not get anything going on offense in the second half, and Team 2 overcame the 3 point defecit to win the Glover Bowl title by a score of 10-8.

Josh Coons continued to show that he might be the most dominating presence in the league today.  The rookie scored 4 touchdowns, added an interception, and dominated any attempt by Team 2 to run the ball.  Josh Neace struggled to get the ball early, but he played great defense all game.  He rebounded with a good second half, finishing with 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions.  Bob Glover had the offense clicking early with Coons running in addition to his pass game.  He fell apart late without Phelps, but still managed to contribute heavily on the ground for the second straight week.  He finished with 4 touchdown passes and an interception.  Chris Hott continued to make a case for himself to be the most one sided player to ever be selected to the Pro Bowl by picking off 2 more passes for Team 1.  Tom Phelps had a solid showing in the first half, but showed once again why he is unreliable if he feels like things aren't going his way.  Phelps scored  a touchdown.  Kenny Williams continued his solid year with another solid game both offensively and on defense.  He scored a touchdown.

Jeff Renn continued his great season in Week 14, scoring 3 touchdowns, throwing for one and adding an interception.  Renn was shut down on the ground by Coons, but contributed more than he ever has as a receiver, which may have been the key to Team 2's victory.  John Allendorf made his return, playing in just his second game of the season.  He replaced Justin Sawicki (out with personal issues) as Team 2's primary receiver.  Allendorf showed some rust, but got the job done, scoring 3 touchdowns and adding an interception.  John Berlin signed with Team 2 right before the game, and played a very good game.  He threw for 8 touchdown passes, and may have earned himself a shot at quarterbacking full-time next season.  Ryan Geib played the best game of his career.  Geib did not make many catches, but the ones he did were huge as he slipped by Team 1's defense unnoticed to score 3 touchdowns.  Geib also sacked Glover once and although he gave up a ton of yards on the ground, he also pressured Glover into making some bad decisions.  Mike Arana continued to play solid defense, but was essentially a non-factor on offense.  Arana scored a touchdown and had an interception.  Jake Cleek also played for Team 2, but with Geib's great game, he did not see a great deal of action.
