Kyle Gonzales made his HSFL debut in 2001.  Gonzales is the Hobart High School Varsity Punter, wide receiver, and Junior Quarterback, but has yet to receive an opportunity to play that position full-time in the HSFL.  Gonzales spent his rookie season being used primarily as a tight end style receiver scoring 8 touchdowns.  On defense, he was often used as a safety and tied for second in the league with 3 interceptions.  His height makes him an excellent pass defender and he showed that in his first season.  Gonzales showed why he is one of the HSFL's top young talents in W
eek 6 by catching his first 5 career touchdowns in one game.  He finished off a solid rookie campaign by finishing second in both the Rookie of the Year and Most Improved Player ballots.  It appears that Gonzales will finally get his opportunity to play Quarterback in 2002, as he threw for 11 touchdowns in his Week 3 return.  But that was the lone bright spot for K-Gon in 2002.  He later left the league, and has yet to return.  The chances of Gonzales making a return to the HSFL are not good, but as long as John Berlin can find work as a quarterback, maybe someone will take that same chance on Gonzo.
