Height: 6'0"
Weight: 170
Matt Glover is probably
as young as a HSFL player can be while still being considered a veteran. The younger brother of hall of famer Bob Glover, Matt made his
debut in the 1998 season despite being at a drastic physical maturity disadvantage. By Matt's fourth HSFL season and
any physical maturity disadvantage he may have had was long gone. Glover now stands at 6'0" and is still growing.
Glover was one of Hobart's top up and coming defensive backs, but elected to spend his sophomore fall playing tennis.
Glover still shows the attributes that could have made him a starting cornerback at the Varsity level. Glover combines
good speed with height and jumping ability to be one of the top young stars in the HSFL. Many people expected Matt to
take over as Commissioner when his brother retires, but any notion of that happening has since been negated. Matt's
dedication to the league is definetly a question mark as he played only one game in 2001 due to basketball. Rumors circulated
that he would sit out the entire 2002 season, but he did play in Week 3. For a long time, it appeared that the
HSFL's future rested with Matt, but now it looks like the founding fathers are going to attempt to play until they feel confident
in handing the company to the third Glover, Greg. Matt has the tools, but lacks the dedication, which has left him without
favor in the front office. He joined the Hobart football team for the 2003 season, and figures to sit out the entire
HSFL campaign. Many still hope that Matt will begin to play more frequently after his high school days are done, but
most of us aren't holding our breath.
