John Berlin made his HSFL debut during the 2000 season, and was quickly deemed as one of the top quarterback prospects in the league.  Berlin dominated his was through the pre-season, making him an early favorite for rookie of the year.  Berlin showed that his quarterbacking ability, like so many others, is only a reflection of his receivers.  Berlin has a very strong arm, and can throw the deep ball with the best of them.  His accuracy is lacking a little, but he can make up for it with good deep threats.  His inability to make plays with his feet causes him to pass from the pocket, and gives him difficulty if he does not have a deep threat at receiver.  Berlin struggled through portions of the 2000 season, but also showed signs of the man who played during the pre-season.  He ultimately finished third in the rookie of the year balloting behind Wes Blackwell, and Nate Small.  Berlin has trouble making decisions on occasion, and has failed to get a fair shot at being a starting quarterback since 2000.  He has switched teams twice in the last three years, failing to find a niche.  Team 2 appears set to give Berlin and his arm yet another shot.  It could be his last.
